About us

The story of Columbus Spices began in 1995, when the company was established in Denmark with the ambition of making selected ingredients and speciality products from international producers available to the Scandinavian market.

After its first years in Denmark, the business was continued and developed in Sweden through Columbus Spices AB. Over the following three decades, the company built extensive experience in importing, supplier partnerships and sales to professional customers. The range became focused on ingredients with a clear origin and distinctive character, including Himalayan salt, Thai lime leaves, Spanish saffron, spices and natural Himalayan salt licks for horses and other livestock.

A new chapter began on 1 May 2026, when the business activities were acquired by Gourmeture ApS and continued under Columbus Spices ApS. The acquisition brought the company back to Denmark while preserving the experience, supplier relationships and market position developed during its years in Sweden.

Gourmeture ApS is a Danish import and distribution company with substantial experience in speciality foods, international suppliers and sales to professional customers. With Gourmeture as its owner, Columbus Spices benefits from an established Danish organisation covering purchasing, quality assurance, logistics and customer service.

Columbus Spices ApS therefore continues a history spanning more than 30 years. Its aim remains to build lasting connections between experienced producers and professional customers across Scandinavia, with an emphasis on documented quality, clear origin and close, personal cooperation.
